Covolo's 2002 Napa Cab tasting (Casa Covolo): DArk plum, borderline raisin-ated but in a pleasing way. Well integrated on the palate. Palate and nose are consistent. Really beagn to fad as the night wore on. Finished 7 of 8 in tasting of 2002 napa cabs.

What BADFISH said so well! Way better than I expected - at 18 years old, still a magnificent example of a classic, restrained, rewarding Napa Cabernet. I only wish I could buy the the current vintage(s) for sub-$20 prices.

Deep garnet core with great density to the rim and just ever so slight bricking. The nose is gorgeous with complex rich aromas of black currant, cigar box, pencil shavings, forest floor, and blackberry pie. The palate is similarly engaging with ripe dark fruit, sweet tannins that are remarkably firm, fresh supporting acidity, and great tertiary character. I purchased this wine for around $18 a bottle and the value is amazing for how much it delivers approaching twenty years of age.

Stored at 55 degrees. Drank this some months ago a steak dinner. Dark cassis/black cherry-berry. Quite nice.

Drinking pretty nice. Probably could go another few years to let the tannins mellow; the fruit is there to last.
