  • Nothing like my 10/28/22 tasting and notes. Some of the same flavors as prior tasting but not the weight and depth. Yes, showed more over the next three hours but really never developed the depth op0f earlier tastings. Faded after 5 hours. Glad this was my last bottle.

  • Surprise of the evening. This was very much in my wheelhouse and I'm not a big fan of Italian juice.

Opened/slow oxed 3-4 hours before dinner. First pour was a bit restrained. But as it opened over the course of the next 2 hours this started to expand and show a haunting depth and balance that was of a very top quality.

It blew the 2007 Insignia off the table. Made it look incredibly amateur.

The Percarlo was very old school. Dirty, nasty, tangy, almost Bordeauxesque, just what I like. This clearly was in a great drinking window and has a long runway before it will start to fade.

Probably would have been better to decant a few hours v slow ox. I was reluctant as my experience w Sangiovese is they don't age as well and the 97 Casanova I had last year was way past its prime.

This was my last bottle, no regrets! Class act.

  • Last of 6, pnp, perfect cork and level, just starting to show signs of decline (rim, nose and palate) while showing exemplary nuance for this type of wine, downside now, drink but no rush. F+ (18).

  • Dark garnet color with a ton of sediment. Expresses a remarkably vibrant nose of sweet cherry jam, plum, tomato paste, tobacco and mocha. Palate is more mature with elements of sweetness and bitterness. With air time, the bouquet takes on notes of brown sugar, sorghum, tar, cherry confit and tobacco. The bitterness resolves with aeration leaving a pleasing concoction of red fruits, tobacco and mocha. Tannin and alcohol were well incorporated in this professionally stored bottle (> two decades). Mature, quite appealing, but with many years ahead. Went beautifully with my wife's superb oxtail, tomato, and cannellini bean ragout.

  • Closed at first, notes of Sangiovese type nose, herbal, dusty. Was decanted for 3+ hours and with another couple hours wine really opened into a beautiful wine. Smoky, still herbal notes but great balance and length. Really nice!
