Tasted alongside the 2006 for comparison, served with hare ragout. Decanted and opened 2 hours before drinking. This vintage is much more approachable than the '06, so it was not surprising that this is, in my view, drinking better now. The fruit is well opened and the palate is smooth and silky, with good red berry fruits. It slips down very easily, not as big and full as the '06, but for me, the better of the two at this time.

Browning a little in colour. Deep dark (almost caramel) cherry aroma. A bit muted on the palate. Delicious, but with lacking a little something. Decanted for 2hrs. Needs another couple of years in the cellar.

Not very much fruit. Not my favorite Brunello. Decanted for 2 hours.

Fantastic - depths of flavour previously unnoticed in this vintage. Glad I have some left.

Needs a lengthy decant. Lots of backbone in there and ideal food wine for something a bit fatty. Venison ragu worked well.
