Amazing to read some of these reviews. Probably why I was able to buy this for a pittance prior to people realizing this was an awesome bargain. Now selling for twice what it did several years ago. But then, so is most GC. Lovely ruby color, balanced, and already pleasant, recent vintages of this producer's Bonnes are being rated by CT reviewers 97 and 98. No, this isn't that. But it's far better than what you might have read here.

A midweight Pinot Noir, ruby fading to a pink rim. On the nose, strawberries with a spritz of cola, clean and lifted on the palate, which sets the fruit against slightly stemmy tannins and gentle acidity. With air a shellac aroma emerges and becomes somewhat prominent. At this stage not an especially exciting wine, and quite expensive for what it offers: I could name a dozen ribbon ridge reds from Oregon that would be comparable in all ways, yet not one would set you back more than $35. Others who know more than me might predict a glorious future, but my instinct is to score the wine based on performance right now. After all, at age eight this could be its peak!

Lean, clean and with well integrated oak, a saline edge of minerals, packed with red berries and spice. it is quite lovely. The alcohol feels a tad higher than the labelled 13%. It reminds me of Les Amoureuses - but it doesn't quite have the intensity of roses. I'd never tried it before and thought I'd pair well with fatty duck. Not a perfect match, there, where I'd now recommend to opt for a fuller bodied Gevrey. Never mind the food - the wine is up there approaching the higher echelon.

Bin end, so gave it a go fully expecting it to be a little thin and it was. Good aromatics but didn’t deliver a GC experience.
