Needs a few hours air… Have to say I think it’s time to drink up the vintage Rose petal orange rind savory notes pomegranate and a somewhat drying acidic finish… I can’t see this getting any better but then again I haven’t had a 15-20yo barbaresco I defer to the barbaresco experts..: please invite me for a lengthy vertical !!
Part 2 Produttori del Barbaresco 2009 horizontal. Tasted blind. Drank in Conterno Sensory. Tasty but more evolved than expected. Might be bottle condition. Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby-garnet colour. Legs. Nose medium+ intensity, with aromas of cheesy earth, red pomegranate. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (14%), high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of savoury cheesy earth, red pomegranate, red plums, meatiness. Long savoury finish.

A bit austere initially. Needs about 2 hours to open up at this point. From 2 hours+ we got wonderful floral perfume on the nose. The fruit was bright and balanced. Really lovely, but even better in a few years

It's probably obvious but... it's a baby. Still, after a lot of air, this starts to show its true color. The nose is still slightly muted but aromas of licorice, black fruit, smoke make their way out. On the palate, tannins are present but they start to soften and the mouthfeel is firm and dry. This is already gorgeous and probably needs another 10 years.

Muted, and not very charming. Still quite elegant and refreshing. Perhaps this was an odd bottle. 91?
