  • Blind. Pale straw. Fragrantly floral nose, mineral but with a sense of subdued richness too. Strong familial resemblance to its partner, this one seemingly riper. Both served quite cold. As they warm and open over a couple of hours, the initially fatter 16 gains sharper line and the riper fruit notes transition to a more herbal minerality with juniper and pine sap providing real interest and visceral grip. This is lovely - so glad we saved some in glass and revisited. Suspect we’ve not quite given it long enough to shop at its best, but there’s less of a gap between this and the 15 than previously. ****

  • Drank alongside the 2016 Champs Canet. No formal notes.

  • Drinking very well - we drank outdoors, with prawn salad and grilled chicken, on a hot day, so probably could have done with a bit better temperature control!

  • Nose expresses peach, nectar, white flowers and minerals. Palate is rich and broad with very good density. For the vintage, the acidity profile is beyond expectation. Drinking very well. A classic Puligny that has generous power and grip.

  • Blind. Pale to mid straw. White fruit and flower, some weight but more minerally and finer boned than the 15 alongside. This is very fine. Opens and deepens with air, building complexity but also line and finesse. The 15 and 16 are relatively big boned examples but retain elegance and poise. ****1/2
