Tasted triple blind. Immediately charming, violet top aromas with suggestions of tea tree and molasses. As it opens, it expresses a lovely coffee shop nose that establishes impressive oak integration. Dynamic mocha latte coziness on the palate, sleek and sexy. Recollective maturity that demands respect even amongst younger, more brawny wines. My WOTN.

Deep black cherries, anise, baking spice, tobacco and cedar. Outstanding acidity; it really balances the big fruit and aged wood perfectly while maintaining its medium-bodied profile from start to finish. Excellent on day-1 but even better on day-2.

It’s been a long time since I’ve opened a bottle of Quintarelli red, but the opportunity to do so on a New York restaurant list for $145 was too good to pass up. It may be 12 years old, but it drinks like it went in the bottle yesterday, even after an hour-long decant. Purple and black fruits, a heavy dose of graphite, and vanilla extract all are prominent. The ripeness is clear, but at the same time, a strong vein of acidity keeps the wine feeling far lighter than it otherwise would. Recommended, but give it more air than I did.

Definitely in drinking window now. Sweet brown anise. Absolutely delicious even without food. Good stuff
