33 year old California Pinot. This has been in my cellar since bottling. The ullage was 1/2 inch, the cork soaked 3/4 way but dry on top and very sound, used an Ah Soo to open. Had to do lead capsule clean up.
Okay the wine is tawny but still quite red the nose has the ripe fruit and vegetable stall character with a hint of brown sugar. Some decent acidity left and a very soft finish. Amazing, from the days of the stem retention trials, they worked.

Hint of volatility on the nose, spicy, smooth, almost sweet, perfumed; fleshy and soft, velvety, vinous, good fruit and stuffing, supple and flavoursome but lacks freshness and elegance, more like an Italian wine or a wine from the Southern Rhône than like Burgundy; fine length, complete finish.
