Cigar box, graphite, leather on nose upon P&P and decanting. Clear and dark in the glass with slight bricking around the edge. A great wine with a super Allen Brothers filet

This year has been extremely busy so far. No time for wine (only 45 CT entries until today including the everyday and cooking wines).
Time to open a nice bottle.
Prior preparing dinner (filet steak, potatoes, cream spinach) I went into the cellar. Stumbled upon the LB 1993 and …
Late Aug 2022: dark Rubin red color; not decanted; intense bouquet of strawberry, cassis, blueberry and blackberries; tannins have completely melted down; smooth and polished, well-balanced by a juicy acidity on the palate; medium body; long finish.
Excellent, fully mature LB 1993 in typical old-school Claret style; 12.5% alocohol. Life can be good ;).

Jan's in town (Kevin and Vicki's house): Splash decant, drank a small glass over an hour. Slight anise and funk on the nose. The palate is fairly acidic, wit green bramble and a little beef blood. Nice but quite light, maybe a step down the downward slope. The positive and negative qualities make this difficult for me to score, but it's somewhere in the 91-93 range depending on your preference for older wines.

Jan's Back in Town (Rocknroller's (Kevin & Vicki's Place)): Very dark red color, 5mm transition to clear. Drank a glass over 90 minutes. Just a lovely LB from '93, pretty, well integrated, bountiful lead pencil, cassis, and dried forest floor note. I so love these underrated vintages with a healthy bit of age.

Pnp. All oak with little fruit in the background. All about secondary aromas. Next time decant. Have 2/3 bottle left.
Day 3: gave it about 1 hr air in glass. Cranberry and red fruits. Thick dry soil. Still very much young.
Day 4: more red fruits and most interestingly, swirl and sniff = cummin.
