We usually love this type of rich, almost fatty whites from the South of France. Furthermore, we love the reds from Reynard so this should be bullseye for us, right? Not really. The alcohol was too present, and we missed the aromatic and floral notes that we had hoped for. Drink now.

We first tried this wine with rouladen a couple of years ago and, while the wine was odd, the pairing worked. This time I think that the wine has moved too far down the "odd" wormhole. Oily, almond paste and something that reminds me of very over-ripe pineapple.I sought out more bottles after we first tried it, I don't think that we should have let them sit so long. One bottle left, I might try it soon with something with sauerkraut in it.

Yet another Terroir Tuesday at Table, Donkey and Stick ft. Clos Rougeard (Chicago, IL): Yeah, definitely not my cup of tea. "Chunky and alcoholic." Somehow not oily though, just cloyingly sweet (without fruit?!) and incredibly phenolic and high-alcohol.
