Popped and poured into Grassl Crus. Showing resolved, mature. Cherry, smoke, and earth with a distinct root-y character, but perhaps missing an extra gear to elevate this bottle beyond good.

Knightsbridge 11th Annual Burgundy and Champagne Tasting (Northbrook, IL): Library release. Very good, with a slight amount of dirtiness here that isn't out of place. The right amount of acids for 2001, but also more fruit and depth than I would have expected -- there's a hint of sweetness here even.

Cellaraid Discovery Box; 5/19/2017-5/26/2021 (Delivered to Home): deep garnet; pretty intense, with tannins much resolved; raspberry, cherry, grass, cloves, star anise, hint of chocolate, forest floor, smoked meat; fairly long finish; very good wine that needs drinking up now

Knightsbridge Annual Holiday Burgundy/Champagne Tasting and Sale (Northbrook, IL): Walk around tasting. Fully mature black and red cherry with at least as much earth. Good weight with good+ length and balance. Just little more advanced than I would expect for 2001 Grand Cru.

Seemed somewhat simple and lacking structure. Acidity is somewhat high just not really working tonight. Not my fav
