Bottle in great shape. Great fill and color (doesn’t look like a 23 year old wine). There is sweet dark cherry note, with an underlying stoniness. Mostly resolved but still a bit of structure here to support further aging. Outstanding.

Thanksgiving. Decanted two hours. Appropriately pale but with a dark red hue, as is normally the case with Lafarge. Discrete nose. Medium weight on the palate but with very good upfront flavor intensity - red fruits/earth. Some complexity now. There is good depth and sap to the darker red fruit flavors which are delivered in an unforced way and certainly without excess concentration. Bright acid carries the wine onward toward a subtle but long finish. Fine grained tannins, nicely resolved, settle on the gums. Considerable elegance for a wine from Beaune. Ultimately a balanced and lithely muscled wine with good intensity delivered on a medium weight frame. Serious. Slightly inscrutable and quietly self confident. You need to give it some attention to appreciate its completeness. Fine. To my surprise this is more or less ready but I will wait a bit on my remaining bottles. Bought on release.

another bottle completely shot. A maddening case of wine that vacillates between awful and wonderful

A maddeningly inconsistent wine. Of the case of this I bought around half have been like this, the other half terrific. Bummer
