At Hiraishi Tempura restaurant in Osaka. Needed some swirling and 20-30 minutes to really emerge. Ethereal bouquet of sweet cherry with a hint of earth and a faint whiff of peat. Lovely textured fruit, that mirrored the nose, Well-balanced with acid and powdery tannins. Particularly great with a mushroom tempura faintly dusted with truffle salt.

Very big nose, earthy, damp forest vibes with aniseed and honey afters.
It's a little ascerbic at first with taut dried apricot.
Edges of coffee grounds, minerality
It's not getting any more fruity, but it is getting more sugary.
An interesting wine, but not really my bag.

30% - 50% new oak over 12-14 months.
No rating as bottle appeared to be slightly oxidized.
Pale ruby in glass with a slight garnet rim showing some age.
Nose very closed, palate lacking fresh fruit. Likely oxidized.
