This has lost much of the hard tannin and formidable structure that I recall from when the wine was young, and while it is more approachable, (a) the tannin is still very much there, and (b) it hasn't really developed much in the way of even secondary nuances. It also shows more of the dark fruit side of Nebbiolo than cherry red. No degradation overnight, the fruit is a bit more focused and is still dark (more dark raspberry than red cherry). My guess is to hold for another five to ten years for more complexity. At present, nothing especially compelling here. Shocking and disappointing how short the cork was for this wine that needs many years of age.

Tar and roses on the nose, in a lighter version of a classic barolo. Earthy, mushroomy palate with bright acid and modest tannins. Still very strong, no sign of getting old.

Tarry nose and some roses, overall a bright yet deep nose. The palate is full of dark berries and mushrooms with bright acid and more developed tannins than in the past.

Tight at opening, but within 20-30 min started to open big -- with tarry nose and some roses. The palate is full of dark berries and mushroomy with bright acid and moderate tannins.

Bright dark fruity and floral nose. Earthy, mushroomy palate with bright acid and modest tannins. A very tasty nebbiolo from way up north.
