Another good one. Deep and dark--serious and grand. This is still only showing a sliver of what it will reveal in the future, but this is very satisfying when one looks to scratch the NSG itch. Very long.

Very impressive wine and exactly what you'd expect from Gouges in 2009. This is very deep, dark, and concentrated with massive depth. Grand cru weight and length. This is still young, but like many 09s fairly generous in its youth. This has more than enough stuffing to last for decades and I suspect at maturity (whenever that may be) it's going to be quite special.

Bottle was in a deep sleep phase, and refused to open up even after breathing for hours. We had opened a bottle of 1978 J. Confuron-Cotetidot Echezeaux that was completely oxidized and tasted like sherry. We mixed the Henri Gouges with the 1978 Echezeaux like a cocktail and savaged some value of the two bottles.
Pretty tight. Popped and poured. Not much happened for first hour. Tasted like a young Gouges (as Hilton warned me it would). Seemed like there was good underlying material but unyielding for now. As I have only one left- I'll check back in 10 years.

Mainly red fruit, some earthy notes, high density and very good length. Amazing wine which drinks very well right now, but with long years ahead.
