Brought home from Copake and drank last nite at Rafaele in Rye. Nose is pure red burg, with red fruit, earthy undergrowth and spice. Intense, powerful and sexy, this is a meaty wine, with plenty of ripe black cherry fruit, and tons of spice. Big, almost oily mouthfeel. Oak is quite noticeable on this big, somewhat unctuous wine. Spicy long finish. I have one more bottle of this and will hold for awhile before opening as I believe a few more years in bottle will add to this wine's already-excellent quality.

Very intense and perfumed in the nose, lots of summer flowers first, followed by fresh red berries and white cherries, animal furs, caramel, chalk, graphite, white pepper, and dry forest floors; complex, concentrated, creamy, and still tannic and tight on the palate, berries, cherries, dark chocolate, tobacco leaves, gripping tannins, and wood spices; long finish; overall, 93-94 points at this stage; still far away from maturity but rather enjoyable already to me.

Some Wine Tasted at the Zachys Auction (Formento's - Chicago IL): Small glass. Still very fresh, flashy and fleshy with a bit of protruding new oak. But powerful, density and very tasty with the substance and density to evolve gently over the next two decades. 89 points for me today, but with 91+ point potential.

Wines tasted at Zachy's Chicago Watch Party (Formentos): This is fun as can be with meaty black cherry and plenty of noticeable wood. Plump and juicy. Easy to enjoy though it'll need to time to develop and show complexity commensurate with a Grand Cru.
