  • Glass: Spiegelau Burgundy
    Drunk over 3 days.
Clear, medium pale golden color. Clean, astonishingly (for a Pinot gris) medium intense, developing and quite complex nose: A very interesting mixture of white pepper, yellow stone fruit, mineral and vegetable notes and some oak.
Actually a very good wine: dry, medium acidity, medium body and quite intense flavor intensity with aromas of spices (pepper), minerality, oak, few fruit (pear). Good tension, creamy mouthfeel and a medium+ finish. All components are well balanced. If there hadn’t been the high alcohol (14% abv), which destroys the whole impression a bit and makes this wine rather hot. It makes no fun to drink this wine without food. On the other side it goes well with sound food… This wine has at least 5+ years left, but the high level of alcohol will certainly not diminish. 90-92
