Still an enjoyable wine, but this bottle was definitely a little past its best. Notable browning, dried fruit, and it's held together with sheer verve. I remember this being so exciting when young, wish I had not let it sit for so long.

Plum and strawberry on the nose. On the palate, red cherry and currant with notes of clove and something slightly medicinal on the medium finish, with no detectable tannins and moderate acidity. This is probably past its peak and starting to fade; the Cellartracker drinking window looks about right. Even so it was an average value at about $30.

This bottle was fully into secondary aromas and flavors but still showing well. Nothing striking but a well balanced example of a mature CNP.

Very smooth and rich. Well matured although it might not last much longer. A deep complexity. Very enjoyable.

Possibly not the best bottle. Used coravin overnight so will see how it is today. Initial view is probably a bit past its best
