  • Very similar to my last bottle, it is a warm, inviting version of this wine. There are some dried fruits with baking spices on the nose to go with the macerated cherries underneath. As others have noted there is a woodsy, slight pine note mixed in with some earth and leather but it is the spice notes that linger on th palate. It is mostly resolved, very enjoyable and easy to drink. This was my last bottle and I think I times it great.

  • I had a bottle of this about 18 months ago, and off my earlier note I’d say the wine is drinking even better now. Earthy red and black fruit on the nose, more red- fruited on the palate, and just delicious. Good persistence on the finish. Might be at peak at 15+ years of age, although it wouldn’t surprise me if it did develop some additional nuance over the next five or so years.

  • Brick, ruby red. A rose garden mixed with graphite and sweet cherry fruit. A bit of rubber on the palate lowers my opinion a bit - a bit dirty after the wonderful, classic nose. Maybe it works itself out but I’m not confident. (92)

  • Light red with a bit of brown. Great aged Nebbiolo nose. Tar, black cherry, dried mushrooms, baking spices and plum nose. Textured dry earthy black cherry and tar flavours and a long dry tarry finish.

Drinking perfectly right now. No need to wait.

  • Opened for a dinner later tonight. I just had a glass of the 2007 Brovia Rocche and I prefer this wine initially. It's tighter and fresher on the palate, and also showing quite a bit of red fruit. Nose is better/more focused off the pop and pour as well. Slight medicinal note on the finish - hard to believe these two wines are from the same vintage/producer given how differently they show on opening.
