Community Tasting Notes (4) Avg Score: 94 points

  • I found this slightly flabby and warm with dark plum and rose notes. Lacks structure and is also low on acidity. Not an impressive showing, I usually love Brovia's wines.

  • Just a 2 oz. taste on day two. Still plenty of good acids, though not much fruit left. Decidedly more tertiary in profile, with well integrated tannins.

  • Great bottle...93 points. The tannins are really nice integrated now and still have a lot of life in it.

  • Bright, prominent red licorice displays itself on the nose right out of the gate. The red licorice, like a Super Rope (if you're familiar with the red licorice candy), intertwines with a gentle gunpowder and oregano taste. After about 15 minutes of breathing, forest floor flavor starts to peek its head through the door, like a groundhog checking for signs of spring. The "15-minute" phase of this wine is a little awkward because some heat started to present itself. However, after another 15 minutes, the heat blew off, the red licorice sparked back up, and the forest floor transformed into mushroom. Like a slowly evolving campfire, the oregano and gunpowder came back to mesh with the red licorice and mushroom into an excellently crafted wine with many layers and nuances of flavors popping up with every sip. After an hour or so the tannins became evident suggesting that this wine has a substantial amount of life left. This wine is mature enough to drink now, but will last for at least 10 more years. In ten years, I can foresee the tannins evolving into more and more unique flavors. I recommend decanting this wine for at least 30 minutes to an hour prior to drinking, and also cellaring it for at least 3 more years, but preferably 5. For 35 bucks, this was a steal.
