  • Consistent with my previous note back in January. This has a nice, attractive nose, but the palate is very woody and tannic. Barely a hint of fruit at all. Some pretty notes of black licorice and chocolate peek through on the moderately long finish, but it's just way too oaky and astringent. No sense in hanging on to these, so I'm drinking mine up. The moral of the story here is: "Beware of bargain-basement Barolos". Better to go with a Langhe Nebbiolo or Barbaresco for under $25.

  • Very tannic, woody and astringent. Attractive aromas of cherry liqueur and vanilla on the nose, but almost no fruit at all on the palate. Notes of black licorice and chocolate linger nicely on the long, dry finish, making this just enjoyable enough to justify its $25 price tag.
