Had tasted this 5 yrs ago, at a tasting with John Duval and was loving it, at that time. I thought with 5 more yrs it would peak, but I think it peaked probably 2 yrs ago. Still really good, but definately on the back end. Lost a lot of the silkiness I remember, and the big cassis flavor. Still enjoyable though, I’d try to get a 2010 though if want it now to really enjoy.

Dark garnet to purple color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of flowers, plums, cherries and a hint of smoke. Flavors of plums, berries, blueberries and cherries. Medium acidity, medium tannin, full bodied. Drink over the short term with a little air to kick start it.

P&P. Lots of plum fruit, very creamy and lush in the mouth. Creme Brulee on the finish. Very tasty at first, but this started to falter at the 3 hour mark. By day 2 this was a pruney mess. Drink now.

This is an immensely powerful wine of great concentration clearly made by an expert winemaker (John Duval was responsible for Penfolds Grange prior to opening this eponymous label). On the nose the wine is smoky, with dark berries and savoury meaty notes. The colour is an impenetrable purple typical of top shelf Aussie Shiraz. In lesser hands I am sure the wine would be dense but here, while clearly powerful, it's stunningly pure. Dark berries and a very slight licorice note dominate the palate. Decanted for 2 hours before drinking.

Loved the intensity and balance of this shiraz. Red fruits, spice. Medium bodied with decent length. Good balance. Enjoyable
