  • Straw yellow with hints of green. Extremely mineral nose: petroleum, slate, chalk, completed with green apples and lime. Not very aged. Medium bodied attack, lots o green apples and lemon, then the minerals kicks in: slate and a dry feeling that is almost tannic. Green apples and lime dominates the aftertaste. This is still unbelieavably young. Will it ever come around to something more pleasing?

  • Fourth bottle from a half case purchased at the estate in 2010. This is at a very interesting stage. The aromas on the nose are quite mature and almost honeyed, the acidity is ripe yet fresh, but the stony minerality continues to be palpable and the finish is like sucking on a rock. I'll be honest: I have no idea where this is going.

  • NobleRottersSydney - Old riesling night (Fix, St James, Sydney): {AP 7 10, cork, 12%} [Graeme] No doubts on the condition of this. Lightly developing nose of minerals, warm stones, spiced yellow fruit flavours. The medium/full-bodied palate offers a mix of youth and semi-maturity, with apple and tropical fruit flavours on offer too, but always conveying the special character of the sand and quartz Berg slope above Rudesheim. Quite powerful on the palate; medium/full-bodied, but always poised and elegant. Covers all the tongue, and culminates in a long dry but rich finish. Might be close to peak; certainly it’s wonderful drinking now.

  • Glass: Zalto Universal
Popped and poured, drunk over three days. Clear, pale golden color. Clean, medium+ intense, youthful-developing nose. Lots of mineral notes, some blossoms, herbs and ripe yello fruit. Really beautiful.
On the palate also quite nice. Only 12% abv.Medium+ acidity, that seems a bit unbalanced. Lacks a bit the tension and vibrant energy that I love so much in most Breuer wines. Beautiful mineral core, good length. Drink now or within the next years. I doubt that this wine will improve much with longer storage time. 88-89

  • In better shape than the bottle tasted in July 2016, much more energetic and youthful, tight and citric, with a piercing, palpable minerality, now balanced by some waxy bottle-age. Really intense but light as a feather (12%) ABV, especially in the context of a ripe vintage like 2009. It feels like this was picked deliberately early, to avoid any overripeness or tropical notes. Austere but impeccably balanced. Mature now, but will go on.
