13% alcohol. Long cork, reasonably dense and with about a quarter of wine penetration (much harder to assess on white wines). Some tartrate deposits. The colour is medium gold initially, deepening slightly with exposure to air. The nose is rich with yellow fruit and a significant terpenic component, a taste that I neglected to acquire but that some rave about. The mouth is a further step behind for me because of noticeable residual sugar; not overwhelming, but a significant component in the balance of the wine, and a clear negative for me. Very good length and perfectly judged acidity; the petrochemicals are still in evidence... A huge positive is the pristine condition of this bottle after 22 years, and how many whites can match that? Yet, I must reluctantly conclude that Riesling is probably not for me, at least in this style of rendition. It is one of those wines which seem to me to be objectively well made but that I simply do not enjoy. Wood polish aromas are not in my wheelhouse, and I don't think that they will ever be. A mediocre match for wild sea bass with almonds.

Surprisingly youthful and fresh. Citrus, honey, flowers and just a hint of petrol that only adds to the complexity. Taste is full bodied, but balanced. Very good.

Great developed nose, however neither too mature nor ripe. Somewhat complex with loads of minerality, and some peach and flowers. This fruit is fading. It starts almost sweet on the palate (it's fermented bone dry), continues very large almost creamy with a very good acidic punch in the end (acid like in pine apple). Long finish. Feels and tasted very alsatian. Develops a lot over the first three hours. It's perhaps a bit high in alcohol, but not unbalanced. I'd guess that within 3-4 years the (primary) fruit will have faded away, it has however structure to last much much longer. I was very pleased with this, as my expectations where rather low.
