Holiday Burgundy Lunch - Rousseau, Leroy, DRC, Ramonet, d'Auvenay (Scottsdale, Arizona USA): Served blind, not one person guessed '03. Leroy was an easy guess, the aroma and spice had her signature all over it. This was the most surprising wine in a lineup of exceptional wines from Leroy, Rousseau, and DRC - without doubt the best '03 Burgundy I have yet tasted. This is in a great spot to drink now, and clearly will last for many years.

2003 Burgundy Grand Cru Dinner (Iggy's, Hilton Hotel, Singapore): Very sadly corked. An otherwise lovely Leroy nose of lush fruit and spice was marred by wet cardboard aromas. Likewise, the palate, while still showing an admirable clarity and purity in its sour plum and black cherry notes, was all but muted past the midpalate by the TCA. Sad.

Leroy Grand Cru 1955-2003 with Lalou Bize-Leroy and Christie's (St. Regis Hotel - New York, NY): From Leroy's cellar. No surprise that this is completely primary. But the wine already shows great polish and finesse. Nice combination of red cherry and black cherry on both nose and palate. Rich spice comes through particularly in the very first taste. Fruit shows great intensity supported by lovely sweet tannins. Great fruit on the finish, which might have been even more intense and exciting with a bit more vibrancy and acidity.
