Community Tasting Notes (7) Avg Score: 92.2 points

  • Deep red with garnet tinge, not showing much age. Long, beautiful cork with a tongue stretching all the way...

Am I drinking the same wine as the previous tasters? This is a tannic beast!

    Day 1, pop: 93p
Aromas are meaty, deep, not at all open for business.
Per os, beautifully tannic, youthful and a little bit rustique. Has a slight "maturity component" but gives an overall impression of being terribly young. This will surely live and evolve for many more years. The perfect acidity fingerprints of Sangiovese are here, but none of the cherries or other expected markers.

With 3 kinds of sausage: perfect marriage!

For blinded tasting, I think this one could qualify as a 2015 Sangiovese.

    ...Drinking window 2012?
    What's wrong with you ppl?
It's 2021 and this boy isn't anywhere near early opening up...

Day 3, one more point added to the score.
Had no opportunity to get back at this monster yesterday, so did it today instead. And it has picked up more steam. All components are superbly integrated, a little rough or "unripe" acidity that still conveys the greatness of Sangiovese in a fabulous way. A stunner!
Enjoyed with some slices of Spanish chorizo.
    God damn!
    Yumm!

  • -- decanted immediately before initial taste --
    -- tasted non-blind over 3 hours --

NOSE: very tight – both initially, and throughout the 3 hours this was tasted; hints of cement, red licorice, and toffee were present, however.

BODY: bricked garnet color of medium-deep depth; medium-light to medium bodied.

TASTE: old wood furniture; wonderful woodsy/leather/spice mixture; medium acidity; cigar wrapper spice; nice little perfumed floral aspect; tertiary; no tannins; "pretty"; gut impression score: low 90s, which would go to low-mid 90s if it was more aromatically expressive. Strikes me as being at, or just slightly past, peak. Drink Now.

  • Robe rubis.
