A private lunch (Restaurant Pollen Street Social *, London, UK): Rich colour. Barrique aged, not unlike white Bordeaux and a good one at that. Has some vegetal notes too, but is slightly creamier and has a hint of orange. Smooth texture, crisp acidity, has an almost savoury quality to it, slightly salty even; good length.

Bright yellow-green. Nice viscosity. Generous aroma of apricot and honey goes very well with the zesty notes of citron and lemon of the classic Greek variety of Assyrtiko. On the palate, besides lush tropical fruit, hints of vanilla and dry nuts. Good potential for ageing. Velvety structure. Excellent finish.
