Still deep blood red. A muted nose earth with no hint of the ensuing quality or complexity of flavor. A mouthful of glorious wine. Deeply fruited with dark cherries and framboise overlayed with notes of grilled meat and beef blood. Almost like drinking of the sauce of a proper coq au vin. The biggest Magill Estate bottling that I have ever tasted going back to the '85 vintage but incredibly sauve for and Aussie shiraz. Lush and full yet balanced with a very long finish. Absolutely dominated a bottle of Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Cask 23 1990 that followed which was simple in comparison. Far from being tired and an incredible wine.

Dark red, almost purple. The nose is refined, with some jazzy dark fruit, a little beef blood, and salt. This is pretty soft in the mouth- there is very little tannin left, and decent acidity, although the fruit is mostly faded. It finishes well with no hard edges, but doesn't leave that much of an impression. Frankly I was looking for a little more fruit in the mouth and maybe a little more power.

Fantastically smooth, deep rich wine. Perfectly balanced and only regret is that we didn't have more.
