This bottle took a while to come around. While initially closed and disappointing it slowly flowered into an intense and stemmy bouquet that featured mostly blue and black fruit. Surprisingly a bit of a bruiser on the palate with big tannin and rich blue and blackberry. The Roumier spirit is in there, but this was tougher than expected.

Great stuff - more rustic than I was expecting, but no worse for it - like a well-dressed farmer in a 20 year old tweed jacket and shoes that will go on forever.

Menthol, earth, and dried red berries on the nose. This is not generous, with dried red berries, sour cherry, but it is polished. The acidity relative to the fruit is somewhat out of balance, and I imagine this will only get worse with time, as the fruit continues to dry out. This perked up some with food, but I would pair it with something savory as it is edgy without. My overall impression is that this may have been better when it was young, and had fruit to balance out the acidity; it's not that this is particularly acidic, but it is just that the fruit flavors are delicate, and fading. Drink now.

Very good, earthy, rustic and still young. Good structure on the palate and very long.
