Another Wine gathering at RJ’s; 4/4/2024-4/7/2024 (Palmetto Bluff, South Carolina): Excellent provenance, cellared a bonded warehouse in London. Dark color. Expressive nose displaying sweet slightly dry black fruit, blackberry, black cherry, mint, rose, licorice, grilled cep, a hint of sous bois, dark spices and earth. Excellent concentration, generous black fruit, a bit rustic and rich, bright acidity, earthy mineral, a hint of tannins, and a medium to long ripe black fruit driven earthy finish.

A perfectly plausible wine but considering that it is a Roumier one expects a lot more. Clos de La Bussiere has never thrilled me, and consistently I find it less interesting than the Christophe's straight Chambolle AC, and this bottle did nothing to change my mind for the better. It was simply not exciting.

What a lovely aged wine. The nose has some red fruits along with pine needle sap, menthol and leather. In the mouth there is vinous sweetness and all sorts of savoury nuance. It is amply structured, with tea leaf tannins and bright acidity.

Pop n' pour. Perfect cork that looks brand new. Still has brooding, rich, powerful fruit on the nose and palate. A bit rustic from slight oxidation. Unbelievably young in texture and structure. You'd like a little more spice or floral nuance but that's 1993 and old school Roumier, I guess. A treat none the less.

Not bad, but not all that great. A nice glass of wine, but needless to say, a lot more was expected.
