Napa Tasting (Bistro Cocotte, Haberfield): Move obviously Napa for me, ripe but perfumed black fruits, plums, sweet spices, cedar, a little toasted note and a touch of bacon fat. And so it proves on the palate; jammy, slightly plummy fruit, an odd ripe menthol top note, soft, near resolved tannins, alcohol warmth is a little more intrusive here. With time though the fruit settles revealing blackcurrant and a touch more cedar on the nose...the the palate is still much of an alcoholic muchness. Hmm.

2017 New York Wine Experience Trip; 10/16/2017-10/25/2017 (New York City, NY): Sampled from magnum, this deep garnet wine (98.4% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1.4% Merlot and 0.2% Petit Verdot) flaunts gorgeous aromas of red cherries, plums, leather, hazelnuts, cocoa and cigar box. Full-bodied, medium in acidity, seamlessly alcoholic and with silky residual tannins, it has impressive mid-palate density and finishes very long. This 23-year-old wine is a good example of what Napa Cabernet is capable of when properly crafted and properly cellared. This should show well for many more years. Drink now-2030.

A Weeknight at JulieD's (San Diego): Allowed to breathe in bottle for 1 hour, then in glass 30 minutes before tasting. Clear dark garnet - blood red, becoming darker after an hour. Brooding, elegant bouquet of creme de cassis, forest floor, blackberry liqueur. Racer117 noted "cinnamon stick." If tasted blind, I might have guessed tight young Bordeaux. Not sure if the fruit will outlast the tannins in this wine. My #3 tonight.

1994 California Cabernet Blind Tasting (Michelangelo Hotel, New York): Fungi medicinal nose. Some red fruit and bell pepper. Overly tannic and a very bitter finish. Likely bottle variation. Score withheld.
