The cork was a mess. The nose was pretty stinky. We opened and decanted overnight, and things came around. This is well past it's peak, and barely holding together. This wine definitely shows the age worthiness of red Bordeaux. We know it was properly cellared, as the person who gave it to us bought the wine personally upon release, put it down and did not move it. Obviously there is lots of browning on the rim. The rest of the color has a decided brown tint. The nose is showing some age, but still recognizable as French Bordeaux, maybe more concentrated. The fruit has fallen off, but still plenty of ripe red cherry, and raspberry. More than medium bodied, surprisingly big mouth feel. Perfect tannins. Would have liked to taste this wine 5 years ago.
