The label on this 1982 La Cardonne boasts its Rothschild pedigree. And the 41 year-old juice lives up to the name.
After decanting for sediment through a stainless steel strainer, this wine shows pungent cedar, cassis, leather, tobacco, and Ohio basement (this has a very unique scent).
Palate is well-balanced, offering up faded sweet blackcurrant, fig, red apple, iron, leather belt. Delicious but finishes a bit short—there are worse attributes for a wine of this age!

This had been standing upright for a month or so. I grabbed it in popped the cork at 2 pm. Cork was solid, but the first sip really didn't show much. 4 1/2 hrs. later this was quite delicious. Fragrant, soft, full in the mouth, with not much fruit, but great perfume, tobacco, leather, and smooth tannin.
A very good drink with chestnut chicken (thx Martin!)

Mostly gone but still hanging on with some dried fruit, dirt and cherry acidity. Not all of our Sunday Night group agreed but this old Teletubby liked it.

Not really a TN--found a pic of this, apparently we had it on B. Lane, but didn't make a note.

Way past its prime. Tasted flat and lacked any complexity.
