Impressive at almost eleven years, Lots of structure, extraction, and plenty of potential. In the latter stages of development. Leads with smokey, earthy decaying leaves, spicy tomato leaf, followed by juicy strawberry, tart raspberry, crushed cherry, and tart cranberry. Lots of verve and structure. Still shows plenty of tannin and acidity. Can drink now with decanting and food, but this has yet to reach full potential. Drink through 2025+.

Tempier at Margeaux Brasserie (Chicago, IL): This was gangly and a little awkward, showing like a stereotypical rustic Savigny ought to show. At first, the fruit was quite pretty, with lighter red tones and some florals, but when I revisited this towards the end of the night, the red seemed to turn black (that's a Rolling Stones reference, or something). The palate is tight, with lots of tannin, and a rustic character that is unyielding at the moment. Best to let these age.

Cherry cola, creme de mure, cardamom, menthol, and notes of flowers and topsoil. Medium bodied with medium plus acidity. Plenty of gravitas. Long, spicy finish with an ample amount of fine tannins. It's young but very nice. Time should tame it and add complexity. (91-93 pts). Hold or drink to 2030.

2/12/2016 - ajeeja Does not like this wine:
Iron very dominant, both on the nose, and especially on the mouth. Also, some green notes. Not my kind of bottle.

Slight fruit in front, right into earthiness and herbaceousness. Medium acidity, high tannin. Needs time, though enjoyed as is.
