Served with duck confit, roasted potatoes, salad and butternut squash. Nice match and wine is still nice. Need to drink two remaining bottles this year probably.

Medium ruby core, medium bright ruby rim. Sweet and quite rich nose with sweet red fruit, some plum, a hint of damp earth, even a little chocolate. Some violet notes. Medium intense red fruit on medium/full bodied palate, moderate, fine, integrated tannins, some rich, earthy notes, medium acidity carries a lingering sweet finish. Attractive if lacking a little depth and length on the mid-palate. Fully mature and not likely to improve.

An easy afternoon with close friends (@ FD): Good oak and butter in the bouquet. Spicy and a lot of vanilla sweetness. Good fruit and tannin. Firm wine. Really nice wine. Drink again after 2 – 3 years.

A nice wine, but I just couldn't get past the Brett. I really didn't go back to this one after tasting it for the first time.

Académie des Cinquante Pomerol Tasting (The Hunting Lodge, Rozendaal, Netherlands): There is a certain unripeness, peppers, vegetables, tight but sweetish at the same time, unknit, lacks stuffing.
