Needed two hours of air before it hit its stride and then was a sophisticated blend of fruit (black cherry, black currant) and organics (pencil lead, damp soil). Accents of very dark chocolate and licorice lingered.

14% ABV. Medium ruby appearance. Straight pour into glass. Could do with a 2-3 hour decant if you want to open now.
Notes of perfectly ripe red/black bramble fruit, clove, dark chocolate, tobacco leaf, iron, scorched earth and a ‘Salt Bae’ sprinkle of horse saddle. Medium density on the palate. Nice freshness provided by medium+ acidity. Persistent finish. Tannins are still a bit astringent and rounding into form.
It may not be the sexiest or most expensive label (good for us), but the more I drink Feytit Clinet, the higher it goes up my list of Pomerol greats and Bordeaux in general. ‘Classic’ is a word thrown around a lot but this is truly a classic example of claret in my opinion. You want pure and perfectly extracted fruit? This has it. You want harmony between concentration and elegance? This has it. You want expression of terroir? This has it. 95 now but this has runway for greatness. Lay this down for another 5-10 years and it’ll start to give you everything it has. Wouldn’t blame anyone if they can’t wait that long, I’m not sure if I can either, given how good this is now…
With a touch of lightning at the edge of the rim, you find truffles, smoke, tobacco, flowers, chocolate, and plums in the perfume. On the palate, the wine is silky, sensuous, and refined, with purity to the fruits, elegance to its texture, and touches of spice and truffle in the lingering pit fruits in the finish. This is a treat in the glass now, but it will develop well for up to 2 decades from here. Drink from 2023-2045.

Surprised at how ready this was at the initial pop n pour. Waited a few hours and it had tightened up a bit. Beautiful deep violet color, relatively fine tannins, forward blueberry like fruit, some graphite, old world peat aromas and flavors. Finish was shorter than expected but overall I really loved it.
