  • A giving, complex nose, blackcurrant, herby, medicinal, a touch of slightly woody dried mushroom, sous bois. Nice, juicy, black fruit palate. Intense. Dry. Tannins are showing themselves for the first time (my batch has drunk well on its fruit from 4 years from vintage) and this wine seems to be at the start of a new part of its journey 92-93. 13.5%

  • Alongside the 2019 as a comparison, this comes across as being very Burgundian in flavor profile. Some earth, loam and forest bed, this has a very pinot noir bouquet in comparison to the 2019 that seemed to have that beautiful flower and creme bouquet to it. Dry in sugar in contrast, this is a far more serious wine than the 2019 which shows fruit laden, plush, and cozy in a candy like wrapper. Very elegant and easy to identity as French. I did not have the opportunity to study it too much because we were going throng so many bottles last night. Drink

  • Nice and light on its feet with nice Bordeaux character but it’s more about finesse but no power. Wife loved it but I still like more structure but I think those days are gone with Bordeaux. No decant. Pulled the cork 20 minutes before dinner of Chili Brown Sugar rub. DO NOT decant this wine. Trust me. Air kills this. Open and drink over the next hour and it’s great.

  • I’m convinced that this wine is a keeper. Had this next to 6 wines ranging from 1995 bordeaux to 2019 bordeaux by way of 2013 Napa. Excellent comparison and a great way to learn about wine. There’s an unmistakable stench of bordeaux coming from the glass and the tightly wound wine is just slowly flexing underneath. It builds up more power with time and clenches and releases at the same time. Out of all the wines tasted we were thrilled to have a nice stash of this. Drink or Hold
