My last note is a perfect example of the pitfalls of comparative tasting. This botlle was resplendent: amazing nose of black and red fruit, cola, brine, florals. On the palate: fantastic density, acidity, cola, sweet blackberry, soft game, and velvety tannin. Just lovely.

Que Syrah Syrah (Chaoshan Cuisine): I've only tried la Vialliere from this producer and to be honest I have avoided it like a plague since then. Was told by the person who brought this that this was the best bottle thus far, and that he didn't like la Vialliere either. In any case, this was a lovely drink. Managed to get the producer correct with an easy hint. Secondary aroma on the nose that was rather Burgundy-like in terms of sous-bois, greenness and spice. Showed a lot of classicism and the Sensory brought out the elegance of the wine very well. Thoroughly impressed even though this was the basic Côte-Rôtie.

short note - Classic Cote-Rotie, dark berries, violets, some cured meat, blood, well structured and still fresh. Very elegant style, like a Cote-Rotie made burgundy style almost. Very good quality, drink now and next 5 years. 91p

Excellent, elegant wine with great typicity. Nose shows blackberry, metal and old wooden chest, and the palate is really dry, almost austere, with more metal, a saline quality and some pepper. Slightly better with food (we had sausage casserole), but really interesting to contemplate without it as well.

Leather, fruit, long. Tannins present but ripe. Sweet — fruit still present. This has a long way to go but is delicious now.
