If I'm honest, I'm a little disappointed with this bottle. Remember loving this at the winery and thinking it was the best Merlot I've ever tasted. Time doesn't seem to have done this a lot of favor. Still good wine and enjoyable, maybe my palate has changed sufficiently in the years since we purchased. Fruit has subsided with not as much behind it as I'd like, alcohol and tannin seem to dominate even after 4 hours in the decanter. In fairness, the last Merlot I had was 1998 Seavey so maybe my expectations for Napa Merlot need to be reset. I do not mean to be so harsh, if this is in your cellar you have an enjoyable wine on your hands.

Probably past its peak but still a delightful wine and easy to drink.

I was expecting a bit more - structure and fruit - thanksgiving red. Still an excellent Napa merlot - either more time or different food - in magnum
