The bottle was correct enough, fully mature but lacking energy. Not enough depth and complexity to make up for the tiredness. Tannins fully integrated. Underwhelming showing.

Part of a Grange mini vertical that included ‘85, ‘89 and ‘93. Opened and decanted for a few hours before rebottling and bringing to dinner. In the initial impression this was a hint more open than the ‘85, but I didn’t really get the same evolution during the night with this as with the other wines. Still delicious (it is Grange after all).

Like most of the older granges I have experienced the cork came out in pieces. The wine was excellent. At it’s peak perhaps. Decanted for 2 hours. Very dark purple, great nose quite complex. Smooth and long on the finish. Dominant fruit up front giving way to earthy lingerings on the back side. A great way to celebrate Father’s Day

Cork solid, wet for 25% Colour deep impenetrable garnet ,clear , slight bricking black hues very good for 34 years 15/15 Nose intense complex fading black fruits olive blackberry blackcurrant plum ,oak spice cassis cigar box liquorice dark chocolate, smoky , tobacco , grill meat , some tertiary elements z, leather , mushroom , earthy amazing complexity 29/30 Palate full bodied chewy tannins in control here hiding the black fruits chocolate cassis , desperately seeking a large slab of protein 40/44 Overall It’s amazing that Grange ages so gracefully, according to 8th Ed of rewards of Patience this has past its peak drinking window but I still am enjoying it . I’m going to follow it over the next couple of days to see if the tannins soften 10/11

This didn't disappoint. Remarkably youthful. 1.5 hr decant. Raspberry, full bodied and complex! Wish I had a cellar full....
