Clear deep ruby/purple; clean medium nose of blueberries, cassis and cocoa; dry; high acidity; high tannins; high alcohol; full body; pronounced flavour intensity; palate is tarter and still super tight with a velvety lushness; long finish; still developing - don’t touch it for another 5 years; Penfolds LCBO dinner

Tasting: My third vintage of this wine and what is not to like? Quite modern, with great perfume and really nice fruit. Maybe not your typical syrah, though.

Penfolds Online tasting: If possible, even inkier than the Bin 707. A little muted on the nose, but grows with some air into sweet plum, cherry and currant confection, which never veers to sweet. Palate is ripe and sweet, very deep and dark, seems to have layers of flavour. Tannins are still pronounced, the dryness of them pervades the wine at this stage. It is not as approachable as the 707 - much more like the St Henri. Depth of flavour is incredible though. There is a really long length of finish, which almost seems to get sweeter rather than drier. Overall, not quite as amazing as the Bin 707 at this stage, but a complete wine with superb balance. Superb.

Extremely dark color. In the bouquet beautifully ripe dark berries and cedar; very luxurious. On the palate deep and concentrated, red and dark berries, dark chocolate, beautifully dosed oak which is perfectly integrated, beautiful acidity and round tannin. A fantastic, well balanced wine with a slight touch of pleasant sweetness. Already a great pleasure, but it will definitely show more finesse and complexity 20+ years from now. 95 – 96++

Younger, riper purple fruits with some warm spices and liquorice. Touch of cedar, roses even cinnamon on lengthy finish. Acidic vibrancy. This was surprisingly drinkable now for such a young Grange. Tasted on release day.
