Another great bottle. Needs a 60+ minute decant which gives you an idea of what to expect. Fresh, deep blackberry flavor. Menthol/resin notes appear after time. Still firm tannins although very drinkable but it does make you wonder how much more time this has. It will still improve at best case but certainly won’t degrade for many years ahead. I have lots of the 2008 as well and I still prefer that slightly but both are good. Like the Bob Travers Cabernet Sauvignon here, these are long running wines. With venison Jaegerschnitzel in chanterelle mushroom gravy.

Ouvert trop jeune.

Bright red-purple. Perfect now. Structured, but good ripe fruit - blackberry especially. More fruit forward than the 2008, but still has the menthol and resin tastes of that wine. I would drink this a bit earlier than the 2008, but it still has years ahead of it and will improve.

Medium intensity nose, red plum, spiced chocolate, black cherry, baking spice. Palate is not your typical Napa merlot, somewhat Bordeaux like, tertiary flavors of mushroom, forest, fruit of blackberry, dried raspberry. Big structure, medium plus tannins, a little raisin and plum on the back end. This one had been open all day, initially might have been tighter.
