There are no flaws here but its lacking excitement. Tannins are still firm so this can age. Maybe its at a weird age - still too young for things to have really broken down and some complexity to emerge but maybe old enough that some of the fruit has already faded? The bones of this wine are certainly high quality.

Another Safeway purchase in Sedona. This was consumed over two days.
I can see why this is scored low by someone looking for Napa Merlot, I would argue this drinks more like Bordeaux. Only going to get better with time in the bottle.
Great at 10 years of age. Just getting started.

Auntie Ro’s Birthday Dinner (Hawksmoor Knightsbridge): Second of the 2014 Merlots. The nose was less impressive - a little more muted, a slight jamminess. The palate though was more graceful and coherent - again with the dark fruits, nice acid, just a hint of sweetness that kept everything in line. I’m not sure this will get better with age. Fun and interesting and did the job asked of it.

Ok - seemed young & muted. Will wait a few more years to open the next bottle.

No detailed notes, but the wine was very disappointing initially, but opened nicely several hours later, and was really solid in the following days.
