Ullage in neck. Cork was in great shape, wet 1/3 way up and still retaining elasticity. Initially, a touch musky. Within minutes, this began to show some red fruits. Sat open in bottle for 1 hour, recorked for two hours, and decanted (tall/narrow). Aromas of forest floor, pine needles, cedar, with dried red fruits in the background. Flavors of dried red berries, grape bubble gum, forest floor, with moderate tannins. Medium body. Great mouth feel. Long lingering finish of red berries with a hint of sweet tobacco. Moderate+ complexity. After 1 hour in the decanter, this showed a surprising amount of acidity.

At lunch, broken cork and all, still an excellent wine. Not quite as nice as the last bottle, but a dead ringer for a great grand cru Burg at close to 30 years old.

Perfect time to try this wine. The tannins are soft, the nose so close to a grand cru Burgundy. I hope I get to taste this again soon. Thanks, Bob!
