  • Absolutely delightful. Drank so good with a Filet and fresh Morels. Great fruit. Forest floor. Tannins starting to resolve.

  • 1hr+ decant, but not sure it needed it. Very dark purple color with very subtle brown edges. Wine was fairly fruit forward with jam, licorice, and plum on the finish. Not as deep as I was expected and became stringy after a few hours. I agree with the other comments about the sediment. Totally different than my last bottle.

  • One off (hard to estimate prices, but about $70) about 10 years ago as part of a large private party purchase and consumed in my effort to work down some of my older/longer held wines. On the nose and palate, blackberries, black berries, a lighter note of red currants and perhaps strawberries, earthy herbality, saline and tar. Deep crimson, medium bodied, thick legs. Medium-ish tannins and acidity, completely integrated, no heat. Good+ complexity, intensity and persistence. I’ve had tastes of both of Dunn’s cuvees before, but this was the first bottle of mine. I’ve always had an image of this producer as being somewhat austere and strict, but this was completely mature, maybe even slightly past peak, with a surprisingly open knit and accessible style that worked as well on its own as it did accompanying my spicy chicken-feta orzo. I’ve also often heard Dunns described as forever wines, not unlike Montelenas or Montebellos, and I’d have thought that, if anything, with this coming from a high quality, cool vintage, this would have seemed younger and with a more intact structure. That this wasn’t the case contributed to it being notably balanced, subtle and kind of elegant, but I’d have hoped for a bit more power and depth, which would have made this enjoyable wine more interesting and ultimately memorable. While a more than reasonable choice at what I paid, at the current almost 2.5x that in the secondary market now, it would, for me, pale in desirability below less expensive QCs, Flacs, Larkmead LMVs, not to mention considerably less expensive, with careful shopping, Mt. Braves, Riverains and Hartwell ERs. If this bottle is indicative of where this vintage of this cuvee is at, drink up. 92-93 night one, 91-92 night 2.

  • This wine had a LOT of sediment! I have enjoyed a lot of wine from all over the world in the last 15 years and this bottle had the most sediment I have ever seen. It was also very tiny so it never settled to the bottom of the bottle or glass. Tasted good but the cloudiness/sediment was hard to get past.

  • This bottle got a double decanting. The cork was sound, there was a fair amount of sediment. It was consumed over two nights. It was a very nice representation of Napa CS. It has matured nicely, and my guess is it will hold for a few more years.
