  • Very pale, light body, high acidity -- the wine still tastes young and vibrant. 2011 in the Willamette Valley was a year with a very late harvest, and Wine Spectator opines that the 2011 wines are fragile and probably past their peak. Not this one! If you like light-bodied, spritely pinots, with red-fruit acidity, and a touch of spiciness, this is the ticket.

  • We prefer lighter bodied wines, and 2011 is shaping up to be our favorite OR Pinot vintage since the maligned (and ultimately delicious) 2007 vintage. This wine is a good example. Light, clear garnet in color, with a restrained but characteristic OR nose: autumn leaves, sea breeze, and red fruits. A slight floral thing, too. Subtle and elegant on the palate, clean and round and lively, with a good balance of tangy cranberry/cherry fruit. Fine background tannins. This wine probably won't please fans of bigger styles, but hits all my pleasure buttons.

  • Division Wine Collective Tasting (Division Wine Collective): Small, not a lot of fruit, vegetal finish. Approach would probably be really nice with another vintage, not with the 11. Pass.

  • PnP at cellar temp. Very floral nose with cranberries, cherries, wet earth and a hint of barrel spice. This wine is lively in the mouth, with pleasing acid showing up on entry. Sour cherries and ripe raspberries dominate the palate, alongside the acidity, but there are also notes of black tea, and I initially picked up a note of dark chocolate which had dissipated after the wine was open for 90 min. What tannins are there, are well-integrated, and allow the fruit and acidity to carry the medium finish.
