Gorgeous wine. Shows Meursault typicity, but leans towards the Coche side of the Meursault archetype. Since January I have had the chance to taste the 2014 of this wine, and now the 2011. Both vintages were exceptional and both (served blind) evoked guesses of Coche. There is a starting whiff of that struck matchstick. Good racy structure, but combined with hints of maturity and an appropriate touch of Meursault fatness. Ente is one of the now-culty Meursault producers that I have little experience tasting. But based on these recent bottles, I can see why Ente is deservedly up there with Coche, Roulot, Lafon etc.

[Blind] Beautiful nose, very Coche-like with the cotton candy and faint reduction. Round, oily palate. Mouth coating and length. Mouthful, a lot of stuffing and power.

Tasted Blind. Almost a Coche-like nose with citrus, nuts, touch of honey and gun flint. A bit reductive and subtle oak as well. On the palate this was big and rich but with enough acidity and energy to keep it poised. An intense wine with incredible texture. While more of a traditional Meursault profile vs the more linear and mineral Roulot, this Ente finds a way to remain refined despite the weight and intensity. This punches way above its level. I might have a slight preference to the Roulot (stylistically), but the hype of Ente certainly seems justified.

Nose: Citrus, vanilla, metal and gun flint, nutty, hints of honeysuckle, cooked rice Notes: an absolutely intense nose and palate. The AE is definitely in the steely and acidic side, medium bodied with a lengthy finish. At this stage the wine is still very energetic and I feel most of his wines are indeed built for the long haul. This is starting to drink well now and I suspect it would be even better if one can give it a couple more years. I must reiterate, this winemaking style is never my preferred style but I can absolutely appreciate the expression of the maker and I consider this a delicious and well made Meursault.
