  • Dried apricot and new wood scents, followed by a very ripe, oaky mouthfeel, lacking balance, lacking in depth and lenght. More new world than Chevalier, not at grand cru level for my taste, quite disappointing.

  • Opened in HK. P&P and then enjoyed mostly over lunch, followed by finishing off the final bit in the evening.

At the start, we had a few issues with this bottle - it wasn't chilled, and probably didn't go too well with the food we'd ordered (Chinese), and was overshadowed at the start at least by the Keller Kirchspiel '15 that was being served alongside it.

However, after managing to control the temperature better and letting it breathe, this really started coming out of its shell: beautiful buttery, nutty, caramel notes. Not quite a popcorn explosion, but performing very well. Great integration and freshness from the acidity. Long finish. A wonderful Chevalier.

I'd say there's some slight upside to be had with a little more patience, but it's in a great spot right now. Just make sure you give this enough air - it can definitely handle it. Would be very happy to revisit, either now or in 3+ years time, and thanks as always to G for the wonderful treat!

  • UV2. Dinner at home in SP. Missing the flint i associate with Chevy. Could have been Puligny or Chassagne.

  • Elegant like a budding ballerina. Mild mid-palate but perfectly balanced with lemon oil, tangerine oil, subtle butter and caramel. Long silky finish. This wine needs more cellaring to achieve its full potential.

  • Opened at 1947 in Courchevel. P&P and enjoyed over dinner.

We had two bottles, both of which were excellent and consistent. No extensive notes taken but enjoyed very much.
