  • The 6th and last bottle from my case. Hallelujah, praise the Lord, it had pineapple fruit, character from the vanilla undertones and balance in abundance. Such a change from my previous bottles and the first of any of the top tier …Montrachet wines that I have really enjoyed . I have had all of the bottles within a 2 year period and the 5th within the last few weeks so it is difficult to understand how it has suddenly improved. Did I have 5 sub-standard bottles?

  • This time we decanted and I think it was the best bottle yet. Such a treat to have a white burgundy with such age. Be brave and let this get air, or even another couple of years!

  • This 01 sauzet chevalier is quite advanced and not really drinkable.

  • This took time to open up, showing baked apple on the nose. The palate gives pineapple, apricots and vanilla spice all with a citrus acidity that balances everything beautifully. Given its current price, this should be the best Burgundy we have ever had. Not so sure about that, but with another 5 bottles in the case we won’t give up trying! PS - as it gets air, so it improves, with the best balance coming at the very end. If you are drinking now, I suggest decanting a couple of hours in advance.

  • I found a few bottles by surprise in a mixed case I had put away many years ago and forgotten about. Of course my fear was the wine would be completely oxidized. Fortunately at age 17+ this bottle was not oxidized. The nose was minerally and elegant if not completely primary and the palate very stony. Quite a surprise from the white burgundy dark period.
