Bouquet of blueberry jam, mint, crushed stones, not ultra-expressive. Very lush, silken palate, fine, ripe fruit, berry jam, slight dark chocolate notes, leading to a finish of mid-length, with minty notes, herbs, mineral tones, slight sweetness and saltiness. Very hedonistic wine yet with great underlying material, some structure and persistence. Really like it a lot.

This vintage does not appear to be as structured as 2007, so this wine was quite drinkable after me air. The French oak barrique treatment was somewhat overpowering the fruit, but overall this is an impressive international style wine deeply rooted in Tuscan traditions. It has all the power and intensity of a Brunello, with the Merlot providing even more ripe fruit and softness. Deep, dark ruby. It has great flavor intensity and structure, with medium (+) acidity, medium (+) to high tannins and high alcohol. It could easily be mistaken for a high end St. Emilion from a big vintage.

Really good complex mature wine with sweet tobacco, cedar, spices and forest floor...well balanced, with smooth tannins and a long finish. A tad expensive at the restaurant...
